My friend raved about this place, so we got there 30 mins before it opened and lined up. We were like 2nd in line. I had just the standard shoyo tuna. It was good. But it wasnt amazing, stand in line for 30 mins good. I personally didnt get the hype. I will say tho. The fish is REALLY fresh. And its definitely more of your traditional style options. But if you want more modern poke style, theres other places that are just as good with less of a wait. Part of me thinks the hype comes more from people who perhaps dont have regularly good Japanese fish options where they live or have never been to Japan?

As far as I'm concerned, their poke is the best in the world. They serve incredibly fresh, high-quality fish, paired with other healthy ingredients. Their extensive menu offers some flavorful combinations, and my favorite is the Ceviche Ahi Avocado. During our frequent trips to Oahu, we eat at Maguro Brothers almost every day! I just can't get enough!
Some of the best poke on the island - maybe the best. We had the spicy poke and Hawaiian limu (liked it the most) poke bowls. The fish melts in the mouth and the sauce/seasonings are subtle so the fish stands out completely. No frills bowls with no extras and nothing else needed. Just the poke and the rice. So good and great value for around here. We waited about 15 mins in line and then 15 mins after we ordered at around 630pm but well worth the wait. Looked like a professionally run place that’s just serious about their fish. Highly recommend to taste very high quality, simple poke at its best.
Located inside the Waikiki shopping plaza. Park at the Waikiki shopping plaza parking garage - validated 2 hours. The freshness and quality of the sashimi here is great. The line is often long because of popularity but they call out orders quickly. The Uni add on wasn’t worth the extra price and wasn’t as impressive as hoped. The mix donburi (3) with maguro and gyutoro was a little bit underwhelming. The sashimi star with the best quality is definitely the hamachi! Also, the chirashi donburi was delicious! Indoor seating, benches, tables. No cups of water here, only bottles for purchase.
Got the sashimi poke combo among few other things for the rest of the party. Fish was amazing but rice didn't live up to expectation hence the 4 stars. A place with that reputation shouldn't mess up with sushi rice!
