Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information LOCAL Waikiki collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Last updated: October 10, 2026
1. Information you give us
When you use our contact form or claim a business listing, we collect what you enter: your name, email, phone number (if given), business name, the plan you choose and your message. Photos, videos and offers you send for your listing are also stored.
2. Payment information
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card or bank details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We receive confirmation of payment, the amount, and your name and email. Stripe's use of your data is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider and services automatically log basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring page and time of visit. We use this to keep the site secure, fix errors and understand which pages are useful. We do not sell this data.
4. Embedded content and third-party services
Some pages load content from other companies: YouTube (live cams), Google Maps, weather and ocean data services, and news publishers. These services may set their own cookies or collect data under their own privacy policies when you view or interact with that content.
5. How we use your information
To respond to your messages; to verify and publish business listings; to process payments and keep records required by law; to send service messages about your listing (such as approval or term-end notices); to prevent fraud and abuse; and to improve the site. We use contact details for marketing only if you have asked to receive it, and you can opt out at any time.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site (hosting, database, payments, lead-management and email tools) under obligations to protect it; when required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety; or as part of a sale or merger of the site, with notice to you.
7. Retention and security
We keep contact messages and claim records only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required for tax, accounting and legal reasons. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls, but no system is 100% secure.
8. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop marketing messages. Depending on where you live (for example California, under the CCPA/CPRA, or the EU/UK, under the GDPR), you may have additional rights, including to know what we collect and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Send requests through our contact form and choose “Privacy request.” We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law.
9. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Do Not Track
Browsers' “Do Not Track” signals are not consistently defined, so we don't respond to them. We don't use your information for cross-site behavioral advertising.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will show the latest version. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
12. Contact
