I try to avoid this branch, but due to recent and tragic events I had an emergency and visiting this branch was necessary for convenience because of other time sensitive things I needed to do in the area. I can recall all kinds of very troubling and weird incidents at this branch over the years. From ATMs remotely going out of service multiple times just before you need to use it with your card, ATMs being out of service otherwise the one time you need them available (I don't use ATMs very often unless it is an emergency), deposited money not reflecting in account after you check the app before leaving a branch and challenging the messup where they tell you that you didn't deposit anything by a sketchy manager who was recently busted in Maui for stealing ten of thousands of $$ from BOH customers, to having another weird acting manager yesterday arbitrarily have a hold put on a check to delay it's availability another week after promising early emergency availability by 8am the next day. This manager on the 19th did this with the back office to a check that I deposited on the 18th of May where there was no hold prior to visiting the branch making my situation much worse! Instead of getting help and having my funds appropriately made available, as promised, today the 20th they went in and maliciously communicated with the back office to delay the funds detrimentally to the 1st of June. This was after I communicated that there were at least 10 pending transactions and the account would be overdrawn again and that the overall situation was an emergency. I called today and the representatives at the call center confirmed that the branch that I visited yesterday needing emergency assistance did this to make the situation much worse. I do not see how any of this was not malicious and it explains the loud coughing from a staff member as I walked out of the branch yesterday after communicating the dire need of help with this situation. I don't know what is going on with this branch, but there is a lot of hateful and negative energy as clearly described above with the experiences that I have had over the years. I have experienced some truly cruel and sketchy misbehavior that I absolutely DO NOT APPRECIATE or deserve to suffer!

The staff are generally kind and seem to try their best to help people quickly when things are urgent. However, the bankers can be a bit arrogant and overly authoritative. I mean… they’re just bankers, honestly… tsk.

Today, I deposited a paycheck for my coworker, who is currently working in Kauai. Upon presenting the check at the bank, the teller requested an ID, despite it being a deposit rather than a withdrawal. I informed the teller the check belonged to someone else. She then mentioned that she needed to consult a superior to verify the check. I clarified that it was a paycheck and had no issue with them confirming its validity. However, I waited approximately 10 minutes for this verification process to be completed, which I found to be a rather slow service.

I called BOH customer service after seeing three strange numbers pop up when I tried to log into my mobile account. It prompted me to text one of the numbers to verify my account. BOH said it was a security measure—random numbers may appear if incorrect information is entered. Seriously, whose idea was that? I thought my account was hacked! The wait time to talk to someone was 35 minutes, and every 30 seconds, the same message played: “Sorry for the wait,” followed by an annoying “Mahalo.” I ended up hearing that line about 70 times. What’s going on with BOH’s digital banking team? Honestly, the entire company seems out of touch.

While being helpful with the smaller requests at the desk, the bank robs you on a bigger scale!!! I have filed for a fraudulent transactions to dispute it, been paid back 4 days later, and two weeks later those money were taken back from my account because they said: after the investigation my transactions were authorized 😡 week later after I received my new card, I have gotten another transaction which I didn’t make… I have more stories about their SUPER BAD service and business. Not enough space to type! I hope they go bankrupt
