Power went out today at 7:30 pm. I checked the HECO power outage map and my location didn't seem to be affected. However my TESLA App said we weren't getting power from the grid, so I reported it. By about 9:30 pm all outages on the HECO map were resolved so I called again. 9:50 pm I got a call from the HECO center. He told me he could see that my meter was getting power from the grid and therefore the problem wasn't on HECO's side but my side. He asked me if any breakers were tripped. I looked and said no they were all on. He then said I should hire an electrician to sort out the problem. I told him, "I understand " and we left it at that. I decided to turn my breaker off and then back on, and that fixed the problem. It bothers me when someone is quick to point out that it's not his/her problem and is no longer willing to help. It would have been a nice gesture if he had suggested to try turning the breaker on and off. Kinda like rebooting a computer, which is what IT almost always asks you to do when you call them for help. So in the end, yes the problem was on my end but I would have expected a little more help than that. Contrast this behavior with my experience with the State Dept of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. I had submitted a concern about Hawaiian Telcom and ambiguous advertising of their rates. I was called by someone from who appeared to be working in the Waipahu area. He was pleasant, and actually apologetic that my problem was really more of a PUC problem. He then said "you know I hate it when people pass the buck and I tell you what: I'll call them myself and ask them to contact you." I smiled and told him it wouldn't be necessary because I had already submitted a concerning to the PUC, as I wasn't sure which agency I needed to contact. Now THAT'S SERVICE.

I understand Hurricane Lala can cause damage and delays. Where I live, we lost power on Saturday at 11am and we were one of the very first. Its now Monday evening going into Tuesday about 100k residences have been fixed but were still down. No hot water, food is spoiled, and no true updates by location. All they keep posting is "estimated time for restoration = unavailable". The governor and state need to demand better. But then again, all the governor thinks about is tourism. We'll, nothing will be done with this post so I dont even know why Im posting buy oh well!

Power is literally ALWAYS going off whenever it's rainy/windy and would be off for 8+ hours as well. Stop putting bandaids on it and actually fix+spend more money to prevent this stuff from happening. Power has gone off so many times this year it's actually ridiculous. We pay so many taxes and y'all can't even eat your shi straight. U guys literally up'd the price of electric as well and FOR WHAT, can't even turn it on half the time😂

No real help. I had questions about my account and how to pay my bill. Felt like I was being rushed to any other outlet like I was a burden. Had my account set for auto draft to make things easier on my family but then all of a sudden no auto draft, and then every location was no help and customer service number is a computer with no help.

Called to report a down wire hanging in the street, they sent someone out to fix it and then called to say "the line belongs to Hawaiian Telcom so you need to call them to come out" instead of just securing the wire hanging in the street. Pitiful and lazy... Really wish we didn't have a monopoly on power in Hawaii and there were other options.
