🌺 The Royal Hawaiian was one of our favorite hotel stays ever, and I would highly recommend it! The hotel is just steps from the beach and has a small, quiet pool that was perfect for relaxing. The hot tub was incredible—easily the hottest and most powerful we've ever experienced. ♨️✨ We stayed in the historic wing, and the vintage charm made us feel like we were truly on a tropical Hawaiian vacation. 🌴🌺 It had much more character than many of the newer hotels. It was also a bit quieter than the Sheraton next door, which we appreciated. Like the Sheraton, the Royal Hawaiian is part of a group of sister properties, so you can visit the other resorts, use their amenities, and even charge purchases back to your room. 🏨🏖️ We had a garden-view room (138), and it was wonderful. The bed was incredibly comfortable—honestly one of the best beds we've ever slept in. 😴💕 One of our favorite parts of the stay was opening the windows and running the ceiling fan in the mornings. Listening to the birds sing while enjoying the fresh Hawaiian air was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. 🐦🍃 The grounds and gardens are absolutely beautiful and a joy to explore. Walking through them each day felt like stepping into paradise. 🌺🌴🌸 We loved our stay and would happily return.

Everything was perfect - the hotel, rooms, staff, location. This is the absolute best place to stay in Waikiki. The historic rooms are a bit dated but still kept up and cleaned nicely. No lanais in the historic building, which would make it truly remarkable if they can renovate and add them someday. Even a small one would be nice. There were a few minor issues that disrupted an otherwise wonderful stay, like ants in the room and noisy neighbors, but the staff took care of them fairly quickly each time we reported it. Hopefully a renovation to the historic building someday will add better sound proofing and removal of connecting doors.
We were so excited last summer to spend our 20th anniversary here! The Royal Hawaiian has been a “bucket list” destination for us since we started dating, when we were young kids in college and were lucky enough to visit Waikiki with a school group. I was so excited to surprise my wife with a week in paradise at the iconic “Pink Palace” all these years later and celebrate us and our family in such a dream destination! Sadly it was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced. We arrived so happy to be there, and the grounds were just as heavenly as we imagined. Unfortunately the staff treated us like uninvited guests. We were given food crawling with ants and when I politely mentioned it, they said they’d “tell someone” and that was it. No apology or replacement offered. Our daughter got sick after eating there and vomited in the hallway outside our room, and I stood by it for over half an hour, desperately waving down workers to address it so there wasn’t vomit on the floor for others to step in. Passing staff kept telling me they’d “get someone” but nobody ever came to clean it. I tried to schedule a photographer for family photos in the grove but I didn’t want to do so without permission so I asked the front desk, who told me to call marketing. Twelve calls, three more visits to the front desk, and multiple unanswered voicemails later I simply gave up and we did our family photos elsewhere. Nobody cared to help provide an answer at all. The windows in our room were broken and couldn’t be latched closed, so we couldn’t block out the heat or noise outside, and nobody cared. Our waiter at the restaurant talked over us, didn’t even register what we said when we asked questions, and seemed annoyed that we even existed. It just went on and on, and not once did this hotel’s people care about any of it. The only kindness or “spirit of aloha” shown to us was by the porters who meet arriving cars. Those gentlemen were always wonderful and I appreciated every single one of them. In every other way, the Royal Hawaiian and its staff were awful and made us feel completely unwelcome. We aren’t a high maintenance family who demands things or expects to be treated like royalty, and other than trying to request permission to take photos we never even asked for anything. We just booked what we hoped would be a dream vacation for our very special occasion. I’m still disappointed and sad about how it turned out. As much as we would love to return, I can’t justify it, knowing now how little this iconic hotel actually cares for its guests. We’d be better off staying at a Courtyard or Hilton. 😔
What an unforgettable experience. This hotel was right out of history. From the flower and drink upon arrival to the refreshing breeze in your face at the beachside bar, this place is surreal. We were even invited to the GM's cocktail party, which was a huge privilege (and a good function to boot). The rooms in the new wing are great and the breakfasts were also first class. Loved the entire experience.
Had a most pleasant experience at this iconic resort. Outstanding service. Breathtaking views. Truly at the center of Waikiki; beach on one side, the hub-bub of incredible city life on the other... yet ensconced in a serene garden setting. We stayed at the "newer" Mailani towers. Room facilities were slightly dated, but the layout was most thoughtfully designed. Opened to a large balcony (lanai) with direct view of the expansive beach and ocean. On-site restaurant Azure offers a French inspired island cuisine, 5 course price fixed. Pricey, but delectable, innovative and unique, that I dint think you will find anywhere in the island. The same restaurant setting serves breakfast in the morning, try the pink pancakes. Great setting right by the ocean.
