White Sands Hotel

I booked this place with some hesitation, given the low average review score. However, the price was a great deal and the photos seemed to be fine so I figured I'd give it a shot. Of course the first thing I checked after getting to the room, based on the reviews, was cleanliness. And it was great! As clean as any other hotel. Staff were all very friendly. The hotel really does look just like the photos (rooms, pool area, bar, etc). While the building itself is old, they've clearly done a good amount of work to give it a facelift and make it aesthetically pleasing. I also had no issues with the noise, the pool and bar close at a reasonable time and they have a separate cocktail bar open late which is out by the road away from most guest rooms. The only thing I would have preferred is a larger bathroom, but instead you get a kitchen-esque area with a sink, counter, and seating area. Overall definitely very satisfied the stay and value.

I stayed at this hotel from July 12–15, 2026. My reservation showed a total price of USD 369.32, including all fees. However, the amount charged to my card was different, and I was unable to determine exactly why. After my stay, I requested an itemized folio showing the room charges, taxes, and fees. I sent multiple emails to both the hotel and the contact address provided, but never received a response. What disappointed me most was not the amount itself, but the complete lack of communication. When a guest asks for a billing statement, providing a response should be a basic level of customer service. Unfortunately, because I could not obtain a folio or any explanation of the charges, I was left with concerns about the accuracy and transparency of the billing process. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights. While the location is excellent and conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, and other attractions, our overall experience was disappointing. The air conditioning in our room was not working properly, and the ceiling fan was very slow, making the room uncomfortable. In addition, bathroom sink had drainage issues and did not function properly throughout our stay. The hotel has a great location, but the maintenance and room condition need significant improvement. Based on our experience, we expected better service and upkeep.

Don't stay here. I never say that, but I mean it. Very loud music until 1:00 a.m. every night from an outdoor nightclub that is literally right against the face of the building. The Wi-Fi might work 70% of the time, and that's in favor of the hotel. If you send them an email regarding your upcoming stay they will not reply. If you call them regarding your upcoming stay they will not answer. Aircon is inadequate. Anything positive about this hotel is offset by its problems. Don't make the same mistake I did.

DARLING hotel, and such a good deal compared to the ultra-expensive hotels also downtown Waikiki. They upgraded our room for free (there must have been availability), and we had a great view of the pool but still had privacy because of the palms. FUN outdoor bar with swings for seats, a fun bartender, great vibes. Had good convos with some cool people. I want to come back for longer!!
